While I realize this is about nine years late after your post, although today I had a fail occur with my planting efforts, as I sat there scooping the dirt off the ground to go into a "reliable container method" only in the afterward, I began laughing, and thinking how I grew up to play in the dirt.

I know I'm commenting on a very old video, but I recently germinated and planted some pink lady apple seeds (and yes, I know I will have to graft on them) but I have three seedlings and they all have very, very different looking leaves. Different colours, different shapes. And these seed all came from the same apple.

I started a apple tree about 4 months ago and it is about 17 inches. Am I supposed to cut it somewhere to have more branches? Or keep it as a single branch? It's just one branch with leaves.

I bought a bag of apple at the local store and because they were very delicios and small, I decided to propogate them from seeds because apples had no brand name. I learned that I probably would not get the same sort of apples, but I decided to try it anyway. Seeds sprouted fast, in 3-4 days, but grow very slow. It is ok for me. About 5 years ago I bought mature apple tree from Home Depot, it was hybrid - 4 different sorts on one tree. This year tree simply died, did not survive either Mormon crickets invasion or cold winter (Northen Nevada)

Thank you looking out for the tree and both have also kept them watered and doing an actual great job im my ocassions bc its so green and beautiful with white and some yellow flowerings and even flower bulbs. I’ve had it 😂since May I think and its about 2-3 yrs old and it arrived from a company that sell so many patio mini trees of many kinds and I had always wanted my own lime and lemon patio or mini tree since I could remember but I know since the time I’ve gotten it it was doing nothing at all for the 1st month and a half but I guess it was just doing its own thing bc like I said it has many many many flowerings on them and there’s many noticeable (I’ll call them buds or pods) but whatever they are called, I was so so so excited when my mother got me up out of sleep to tell me baby you have many many blooms on your like tree and many more that very close to coming in. Omg I jumped up and ran to my patio and was sooo ecstatic with this sight. So I’m praying I can get up And out and pick me up about the same size pot he added his plant to in here bc like I mentioned b4, I did received my tree directly from a tree gardener and when it arrived it was 3 yrs old. I’m so happy and I’m going to get me a new pot for it maybe a 15 as you have in your video bc my tree arrived just as the black pot you removed your tree from 1st. I was hoping I’d get a large glaze pot or even the plain terra-cotta pot but for right now I’ll stick with sizing up with that 15 blue pot or whatever it may be. Thanks for all your great info in this one segment though bc it was very knowledgeable to me. I’ll be ack for more very soon

I have gruesome for the first time and they seem to do better than the ones that I got in the mail! I was having a hard time figuring out how to plant the mail order slips because they didn’t have any leaves whatsoever? They are literally sticks with no leaves, so I’m just curious if anybody knows how to deal with the mail order slips that come with no leaves and are literally sticks? I tried to them in a trench halfway down and they produced a little plant beside of the stick. I’m just curious if anybody else has got mail order slips that are literally and how to plant them for the best yield?

Feed the squirrels and they pretty much stay away from our fruit trees. Also feeding the birds help keep them away. The worms can be the hardest to deal with without pesticide thats organic or not.
